Things You'll Need

  • Eggs
  • Yarn
  • Glue Gun

Instructions

  • Step 1

Wash and hollow-out as many eggs as you would like to decorate. See How To Create Hollow Eggs for a step-by-step process for hollowing eggs.

  • Step 2

Gather some embroidery thread or yarn in different colours. For a striped look, use yarn that comes in changing colour gradients.

  • Step 3

Working in sections, apply a thin ribbon of glue around the egg using a glue gun. Before the glue sets, carefully apply the yarn, being careful not to touch the hot glue with your fingers. Follow this process around the egg until covered with yarn. Instead of circling around the egg, you could also draw patterns using different colours of yarn.

  • Step 4

Yarn eggs make a beautiful centrepiece for your Easter celebration. Set clusters of yarn eggs in bowls and glass jars, or glue a small loop of yarn to the top of each egg and hang from branches set it a tall vase.
